Summary
The Avatar represents a sophisticated, compact, Computerised Electro Dermal Screening
(CEDS) instrument offering a comprehensive and broad range of health
assessment and remedy tracing options. The system consists of a test unit (Avatar) and controlling computer running Windows
based software. This system is well built and very capable. The Avatar
system represents the leading edge of the CEDS health screening market and is an
ideal partner to healthcare professionals such as homoeopaths, herbalists,
nutritionists etc whose skill and knowledge can be easily integrated with the
system.
| Assessment Features | |
| Pre-test | Series of generic tests to indicate focus
for clients health imbalance. Environment - Geopathic stress, radiation etc Emotional - Depression etc Physical - Bacteria, virus, allergy, food, vitamins, hormone etc |
| Base test | Vitamin & mineral deficiencies, food intolerances, environmental sensitivities, hormone imbalances, amino acid balance, dental problems. |
| Organ test | Determining energetic health of 22 body systems (liver, gallbladder, stomach, spleen, large intestines, long, heart etc), evaluating reasons for imbalance (parasites, chemicals, heavy metals, viruses, radiation etc) and associated remedies (herbs, homoeopathic, nutritional, flower essences, colour, essential oils, gems etc). |
| Database | There are 14,000 separate items stored in the database as standard. Any of these items can be tested against the client to check its suitability as a remedy or as a causative factor. |
| Manufacturers Products | 53 manufacturers and their product lines with detailed descriptions of all products and live internet links. |
| Test Categories | There are 24 test categories including: 412 different foods, 289 environmentals, 730 common chemicals,1800 herbs, 1237 homoeopathics - just for starters. |
How it works
The VeraDyne Avatar as with all CEDS instruments uses a probe to
measure skins electrical
resistance at acupuncture points. The controlling computer displays the
probe readings as a graph during testing and records the responses for later
analysis. To perform a test the client is stimulating with energetic signature patterns
generated from the
computer database while a
reading is taken with the probe. Where a stimulus causes a deviation in readings this
indicates an issue between the substance being
tested and the subject. Using this basic principle the VeraDyne Avatar
can
perform a wide range of health assessments and use the power of the
computer to accelerate the process. Direct evaluation of acupuncture
meridian energetic state can also be determined by applying the probe the
Meridian control points.
Hardware
The VeraDyne Avatar test unit is an unusual, but not unattractive, tear drop shape constructed from
a cream plastic body with a shiny aluminium top test plate. The front
has cable connectors for the probe and hand mass and a partially
hidden power light. The rear of the instruments houses the power
button. Underneath is a screw on plate that houses the 4 AA nickel cadmium
rechargeable batteries.
A battery re-charger is built in to the Avatar and is activated when the
main power switch is switched off. This is an unusual arrangement but is a
health and safety requirements insuring the device is never actively
attached to the mains while working on a client. Overall the hardware is well put together and of
good quality.
Software
Comprehensive Windows-based software controls the screening process.
Client details are stored along with their test results and can be printed
at any time. The main testing screen is clear
and well laid out with a familiar windows feel though there are some
anomalies.

The database of stored testable items is an interesting and impressive feature of the Avatar. The 14,000 items are accessible through a novel searching procedure allowing, for example, all herbs from a certain manufacturer associated with a particular health condition or Meridian to be displayed. This powerful feature takes a little while to get used to but when successfully used it is superb.
The software can be set to run standard nutritional type assessments or more advanced organ health evaluations. Scanning functions allow for large groups of test items to be quickly evaluated, for example several hundred possible remedies can be scanned in less than a minute to find those required by the client. This scanning process appears to have a few minor bugs but works fine.
The setting up of personal test libraries (favourites) is straightforward and convenient. There is one limitation we found and that is items can only be stored in alphabetical order within the favourites; from a practical point of view this is not always the most useful order when performing a screening.
In Use![]()
This is a highly portable device and would comfortably fit in a small
bag along with a lap top computer. The whole system can be quickly set up in a matter of minutes.
Standard screening tests such as vitamins and minerals, food sensitivities etc can be selected from a supplied library. For more advanced body systems analysis the computer guides the operator through the screening process. It takes a little time to become familiar with the software, however it offers complete control over the investigation process and is flexible in its approach. For the basic screening it is simple enough to use however it will allow you to go as far as you want with very few limitations and make use of the full database.
When performing a screening the client holds the hand mass in one hand and the practitioner applies the test probe to acupuncture points on the other hand. The computer indicates the item or items to be tested and as the probe is applied a graph is displayed on the computer screen indicating the client's response. This is stored for later analysis or printing. As with all EAV devices the use of the probe takes a little getting used to. It needs to be used in a fairly precise manner. The time spent mastering this skill is well worth the effort and is an imperative part of the training process. We must mention that the Avatar's probe is very nicely made and comfortable to hold. It uses a conventional tip design. A small switch is incorporated in the handle and conveniently controls various computer functions such as advancing between points.
There is no built in imprinting device as with the best professional however an additional instrument called the Wavefront can be added to give this feature.
Results
The results from screenings can be printed out immediately in the form of
lists. These reports are Ok but could be better presented. These can then be discussed with the client and
recommendations made.
Effectiveness
In the hands of a competent user the Avatar is highly effective at
determining the root causes of clients health problems, and assessing
remedies to rebalance functional health. Subjectively we find an 80 to 90%
accuracy with this device in the hands of an experienced and trained
practitioners.
The accuracy and detail of results produce allow for specific treatment
programmes to be prescribed with confidence.
How differs from other products.
The main feature the Avatar has over other CEDS devices is the
searchability of its item database, this is a very impressive and powerful
feature and will be much appreciated by homoeopaths herbalists and
naturopaths.
