How it works
The Omega XP uses a low power cold laser light, designed to
stimulate skin and deep body tissues in a therapeutic manner. This is
very different from high power thermal type lasers used in
industry and surgery. A LASER (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission
of Radiation ) is simply a device that emits a coherent
(parallel rays) of light at a single specific wave length (colour). Lasers can
emit visible light such as green or invisible light such as infrared.
Biological tissue absorbs and reacts to light colours and it has been
found that Lasers light in particular which consists of single colours, can be used for
specific purposes.
The use of low level, cold, red and infrared laser light, as used by the Omega XP, has proved to be particularly effective with a wide range of health conditions. When cells are exposed to this type of light, very real and measurable changes in biochemical activity occur which stimulate the body's repair mechanism into action.
The Omega Laser uses a pulsing technique to switching the laser on and off
many times a second. This has been found to be very beneficial for
therapeutic treatments. The pulsing rate is measured in Hertz (Hz). Switching
the laser on and off ten times a second is given the notation of 10 Hz a
thousand times is 1000 Hz etc. The pulse rate on the Omega system can be set to
different values.

Hardware
The Omega system is built to the highest
professional standards and consists of a portable
control unit and hand held probes. The front of the control unit houses the controls and
connectors for two laser probes. A key is provided to operate the master on off
switch. The required operations are easily selected through menu buttons and clear LCD screen.
The control unit powers the probes from either the built in battery pack or mains power. In battery mode the unit is highly portable (it is supplied with a convenient carrying case) and will give several hours use with a single probe. When the unit is plugged into the mains the batteries automatically charged. A separate stand positions the unit perfectly on any flat surface and ensures complete stability and visibility in the clinic.

In use
Operating the XP Laser is strait
forward. First the appropriate laser probe is selected and plugged into the control
unit. The key is turned on and the clear menu options allow the simple selection
of treatment time and pulse rate (supplied
charts allow these to be simply determined and is fully covered in the
training). The hand held laser probe is then placed against the skin over the
affected area (for infectious conditions the head of the probe can be shielded
with clingfilm). The button on the probe is then pressed to
start the Laser. Operation times can last from
a few seconds to a few minutes depending on the treatment being given
and the type of laser probe. As the treatment progress is the control unit display reads off remaining time and
an audible beep sounds once completed. During treatment most people feel very little although some may feel a slight warmth.
Most treatments will simply involve gently holding the laser probe against the
skin, the cluster probe can be moved slowly around larger areas.
Effectiveness
We can vouch for just how effective this device is. It is impressive
with many of the health complaints mentioned above with pain relief and
muscle releasing happening almost immediately. Treatments take
minutes, the client feels little during the process and general complaints clear up quickly. As
with all things it does not work with everyone but our experience is that
it benefits most people.
Results
Increased cellular activity.
Under laser treatment tissue cells tend to become more active and accelerate
the healing process. In particular the following are observable:
- Growth factor response within cells and tissue as a result of increased ATP and protein synthesis.
- Improved cell proliferation.
- Change in cell membrane permeability to calcium up-take.
Suppression of pain.
Clients will almost always report a reduction in pain after laser treatment.
Some times sensations may become more acute in the short term as a result of
healing processes taking place. The pain suppression mechanisms include:
- Pain relief as a result of increased endorphin release.
- Increased serotonin.
- Suppression of nociceptor action.
Another very observable effect after laser treatment is the increased response of the immune system.
- Strengthening the immune system response via increasing levels of lymphocyte activity and through a newly researched mechanism termed photo modulation of blood.
